Hearing A Diagnosis Of "Breast Cancer" Is Devastating
At Ladies First many of us have heard those words. We want to assist you and your loved ones with moral support and emotional strength.
If you or someone you know is facing breast cancer we offer you the following assistance.
Which SOFTEE® Style Is Right For You And Your Surgery Or Treatment Type?
The SOFTEE® TWO Recovery Camisole, provides comfort, offers protection and restores shape immediate post-op. The SOFTEE® TWO helps to conveniently and comfortably store the surgical drains and can be worn home from the hospital directly over surgical bandages. For patient convenience and to customize, all adjustments are made on the outside of the garment while wearing.
Recovering From Treatment
Recovery will be different for each woman depending on the extent of the disease and the treatment she receives. Exercising after surgery can help a woman regain motion and strength in her arm and shoulder. It can also reduce pain and stiffness in her neck and back. Carefully planned exercises should be started as soon as the doctor says you are ready, often within a day or so after surgery. At first, exercises are gentle and can even be done in bed. Gradually, the exercises are more active, and regular exercise should become a part of a woman's normal activities. Women who have a mastectomy and immediate reconstruction have different exercise needs. Consult your physician about which exercise routine is best for you.

After Healing - The Fitting Experience
Usually 4-6 weeks after surgery, when you are completely healed, your doctor will advise that you are ready for your bra and prostheses fitting. You may select a specialty post mastectomy shop, or choose any store with a mastectomy department. It is advised that you check with your insurance company regarding what your policy covers. Your first fitting may take anywhere from 1-3 hours. Most mastectomy shops offer full service product lines such as
SOFTEE® Recovery Camisoles, prostheses, pocketed bras, wigs and head coverings for during chemotherapy, swimwear, lingerie and active wear.
If you elect to undergo breast reconstructive surgery, these same mastectomy departments usually carry compression and leisure products for support and comfort. It is best to ask your doctor for recommendations.
